4 days dedicated to the pump industry

A team of Ruthman Companies executives and engineers from our divisions recently attended the Hydraulic Institute’s Annual Conference. The event brings pump industry professionals together for networking, thought leadership, and programming to advance the pump industry.

Our Executive Vice President, Thomas G. Ruthman, said of the event, “The ability to take a step back from day-to-day operations and come together with other pump industry experts is really valuable. We are shaping the future of the industry, pooling knowledge to establish standards and best practices that allow us to bring the very best in engineered pump solutions to our customers.”

The new pump energy efficiency regulations were a hot topic at the conference. Jian Zhang, a Mechanical Engineer at Gusher Pumps, attended the seminars that focused on the practical implications of the new regulations. “The new standards cover a lot of ground; the programs focused specifically on how they impact the pump industry. What I learned will be incredibly helpful as we continue to stay on the forefront of pump design.”

Ahmed Uddin, an engineer at Process Systems Inc., found the seminars on pump condition monitoring systems to be really valuable. “Using sensors to monitor the pump performance and provide real time feedback, is the next technology wave in pumps,” he explained. “Armed with this information, operators have the ability to predict pump failures and schedule preventative service. The information learned at the conference will be valuable as we integrate this technology into our product lines.”

“The Hydraulic Institute represents the future of the pump industry as they seek to become not only a specification creator and holder, but the force that steers the industry and influences government bodies that seek to regulate it,” said Ruthman Companies National Sales Manager, Dan Csomos.

The whole team came away energized and excited about the future of pumps. Now the work begins to share the knowledge gained across our divisions, taking advantage of the ongoing HI education and certification programs.
