Enclosed Column Sealless Designs Minimize Leaks and Pump Failure

Eliminate mechanical seal failure headaches, downtime and cost

The most common cause of pump repair is failed mechanical seal or sealing method. Our estimates put seal failure as the cause of 85% of pump repairs – 85%!!

Gusher’s solution to imperfect sealing solutions? Eliminate the need for a sealing method all together! Gusher’s Enclosed Column Vertical Pumps eradicate this point of failure with a sealless design.

Not only are leakage and pump repairs due to seal failure completely eliminated, this design also saves floor space and minimizes regular maintenance.

The Enclosed Column design is based on Gusher’s 7550 Series vertical sealless pump. Durable and reliable, these pumps have established a proven track record as dependable workhorses. The only preventive maintenance required is greasing the bearings. (Learn more about what sets the 7550 Series apart.)

These are design elements that help Enclosed Column sealless pumps eliminate leaks:

Throttle Bushing

  • Designed to reduce leakage across the throttle bushing into the column.

Open Impeller

  • Pump-out vanes on the back side further reduce leakage.

Enclosed Column

  • Any fluid which does make it past the throttle bushing is collected in the enclosed column and discharged back to the suction or supply tank. This eliminates all external leaks!

This design is so simple yet proven with years of leak- and maintenance-free operation in industrial installations. These pumps are suited to a wide variety of challenging applications–even those with high solids or with high temperature fluids. The only installation where they are not an option is on a pressurized inlet.

Retrofitting is easier than you think

You don’t have to settle for leaks and repairs just because your current pumps are horizontal models. Retrofitting with Enclosed Column Vertical Pumps can be accomplished with minimal piping changes and the addition of supports for external mount configurations. Gusher’s applications engineers can work with you to custom engineer a pump that works for your installation. See how easy it can be.
